My December column focused on the connection between Quebec and three distinctly different French vineyards.
Behind the scenes of that article was my trip to visit those vineyards, the city of La Rochelle (see November column), and other Quebec-related locations in France.
Both because I have a degree in sustainable food and agriculture and because I had never been to Europe, the trip was a watershed experience.
It was particularly extraordinary to reconnect with the vineyard owners on their home soil, after having written about them* a year ago.
*The vineyard owners might have been interested in seeing me again because those articles won an award for Best Business Story.
