June: Local nature-related sketches

As promised, here are a couple of recent sketches from local sketchers.  Keep reading for descriptions in their own words!  If you have a nature-related sketch you did in June, in or around Quebec City, feel free to send it to us at drawntoquebec@gmail.com.  We'll happily add it to this post.

While everyone else was comfy and dry, I was
walking around in circles in the gazebo at Parc
Holland.  By 6:30 I figured out that "we will not
be meeting," due to the rain.  Here's a little
vignette I sketched that evening, anyway.

Bethann, June 2012
After seeing lots of sketches by others featuring
produce from their gardens, I decided to highlight mine.
The coming of fresh herbs is always a harbinger of the
new growing season, one of my favorite times of year.

Radishes are usually one of the earliest garden crops,
but not this year.  These two are the first fully mature
radishes from our garden this season, harvested in late
June.  After the rain cancelled our nature sketching
session, I decided to immortalize these vibrant bits of
spring before dipping them in salt and crunching away.
